Rugby and RAIN
This is a picture of my side.
What is the saying… “No Pain, No Game”. Well we had our interclub match on Sunday and as you can see from the pictures…It went really well. I just had a few other bruises and bumps on my body….and I still have all my teeth….I scored three times which I was pretty happy about. I also scored the first try, again. Our team won the match 47-20….we were up 25-0 in the first 20 minutes. So as you can see from he pictures I was stepped on multi times…..I was “walking” (it hurt every time I took a step) to get to my class yesterday and it took me five minutes just to walk down the stairs in my apartment building…I basically was not trying to bend my knee at all because I almost starting crying whenever I would bend it. The bus ride was even better….standing was really hard because the bus drivers do not take into consideration that anyone else is on the bus so they just drive like they are the only person on the bus….i have seen people fall over in the bus and they were hanging onto the bars. That was day one.
Day two my shoulders are killing me. So since we were only playing 9v9. I was put up in the forward position…which meant that was apart of the rucks. That is where people get into groups and try and push the other team away from the ball with their shoulders. I was in the second line of the group. So I had to provide lower body support for our front line with my shoulders….Since we had to do one of these for every penalty…..we did one about every 2 minutes…we are not experienced yet.
It also did rain the entire morning before the rugby match so that was great on two fronts….First, IT RAINED…NOT AS MUCH OF A WATER SHORTAGE ANYMORE, second the field was not rock hard.
So I found us a sponsor for the summer camps. The school that I work at (Odies) is willing to provide sponsorship. I have also found us a couple of volunteers. So we are going to start doing some preparation meetings. I am getting really excited.
On a side note, my dad gets here tomorrow.
The photos: The first pic is from where I got stepped on and you can see the cleat marks in my LEG. The next two pics are of my ankles from where I got cleated also….I don’t know how those happened but they did. The fourth pic from getting tackled really hard. And the final pictures is either from someone trying to tackle me and they went to high and caught their finger nails on the upper part of my nose or I got stepped on and cleated again. The game was on Sunday and it is now Friday and the sores and bruises are still there. The rugby team wants to do one of these matches every month…I don’t know if I will be healed up by the next interclub match.
