Chinese New Year and More

For Chinese New Year we get 12 days off of work….(it is usually 3-4 weeks off). So I am heading up toe Lijiang for four days.. I am going with the owner of the school’s family who was invited by another family. And we are getting a car when we get there so I might get the chance to drive in China. Lijiang is not a big city so the traffic would not be as bad as in Kunming. We are taking an over night train so taking pictures of the country side are probably out of the question as it will be dark. So people (my mother) have asked for more pictures and Kunming is not a Tourist town. It is just a nice, sunny place to live. There is the Green Park, a temple (which I do plan of visiting probably over my break), a rundown zoo, and a “Safari”. I don’t know if I want to go to the safari by myself though. So I am going to have to find some people who haven’t been yet. I haven’t heard great things about it so I don’t have high hopes for it.
So it rained last week and was a pretty depressing day. But other than that day…it has been in the low 60s and sunny every other day. From eight in the morning til seven at night it is sunny and nice. Winter is tough here. So I don’t remember if I told you this but I washed my phone accidentally the other day because I forgot to take it out of my pants pocket. So Merry Christmas Jared….You get a brand new phone. Over here, all phones are factory unlocked. Which means the SIM card defines what network you are using and not the type of phone also. So I could go out and purchase any phone I want to as long as I have the SIM…it will work. So there is no waiting for a phone to come to a certain provider  or changing your cell phone provider to get a certain phone.

  1. Hi Jared,
I would like to see pictures ...not of touristy places....but pictures of where you buy noodles down the street, of where you catch the bus or train, what your street looks like, your classroom building....everyday life in China for a tall white man.
